About these numbers

Standard categories and standard size tiers, for stock held locally or on Pan-EU. Treat it as a guide rather than a quote, because Amazon measures and weighs your stock itself and that measurement is what sets the fee you actually pay.

What this covers, and what it leaves out
  • The referral fee is worked out on the price including VAT, which is how Amazon does it in the UK and EU. The minimum is £0.25 an item in the UK and €0.30 in the EU stores.
  • Amazon has two rate tables for the same size band. The low-price one applies at £20 or under, or £10 in beauty, health, grocery, books, office, kitchen and business supplies, with €11 in Germany and €12 in France, Italy and Spain. The calculator moves between them as you change the price.
  • Germany uses the Central Europe Programme rate. Without it, add €0.26 a unit.
  • The digital services fee is set for a business established in the UK: 2% in the UK and Germany, 3% in France, Italy and Spain, charged on Amazon's own fees.
  • Left out: peak season rates, storage, cross-border EFN fees, the surcharges for aged or thin stock, returns processing fees, batteries and hazardous goods, media closing fees, and the categories Amazon prices differently, such as clothing, footwear, grocery and pet food.

The terms are all in plain English over on Amazon explained. General information, not tax or legal advice.
